Sign/Earthly Branch: Ox/Buffalo - Chou
Birthtime Companion: Tiger
Heavenly Stem/Element: Fire

Sign of the Ox

Chillingly similar to his fellow zealot, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein has chosen to manifest his energies in their most negative form. Had he chosen the high-road of enlightenment, we would have seen a home-loving, sober minded, even tempered, persevering, conservative, hard-working, well regulated, and quiet man. Instead, we find an authoritarian dictator; possessive, brooding, humorless, stubborn, resistance to change, jealous, rigid, and cruel.

Like most Oxen, Saddam is of medium height, stocky, with a thick skeletal structure and powerful muscles. It is most difficult to "read" him, as his face does not disclose his emotions and is many times expressionless. Physically, he possesses a robust health, and his Ox essence of "endurance" protects his physical vitality. However, a closer look into his chart, shows the T’ai Yin star placed in his Health Palace, indicating a susceptibility to diabetes and kidney disorders.

This is a man who hates being contradicted, those who chose to confront his authority, do so at their own risk. His choleric temperament is subject to eruptions of extreme anger and like the proverbial "Bull in a china shop" one is advised to steer clear of his wrath until the calm emerges from his storm.

Insubordination, defiance, or disloyalty infuriate him. He insists on being treated with utmost "respect" and holds grudges for a very long time. He also finds it almost impossible to understand those who do not share his beliefs or differ from himself.

This is a man who does not change his mind quickly or act impulsively. His rigid principles and convictions are, indeed, set in stone. Once a decision has been made, virtually nothing can divert him from his path. He is obstinate, prejudiced and strictly unreasonable. Someone else's point of view is worthless to him, once his mission is set.

This man displays an exaggerated, almost neurotic, sense of patriotism towards his homeland, business and those whom he calls "family." He holds his property, work, and love of country -- sacred.. He will not tolerate any attack or criticism of these areas and will fight to the death to defend them.

The Ox male is the consummate "Boss" and independent commander of the zodiac, and when expressed negatively, becomes a tyrant and dictator. An impressive list of past oppressors and absolute rulers are unfortunately found amongst this 2nd sign of the Chinese zodiac. His authority rules supreme and dictatorial over those who are subordinate to him.

A deeper look into the mind of this fiendish madman can be seen through analyzing his Zi Wei Dou Shu chart. (Click on the chart below to view it in a larger size.)

Saddam Hussein Chart Saddam Hussein was born on April 28th, 1937, during the hours ruled by the Tiger. The first striking item is found in his main Destiny palace which defines his essence - the star energy "Sha Qi" (literally, "Bad ‘Chi’ life-force") is prominently placed. This star is also known as the "Power Sword" and the "Seven Killings." This solidly places Saddam in the aggressive major Martial group of souls, defined by conflict, fighting, power struggles and quarrels. It reveals that Saddam Hussein is ambitious, reckless, and rash, yet possesses leadership, commanding and ordering abilities. A "vanquisher born to obtain by force." His brutality and violence is further exacerbated by the star "Jiang Jun" (Officer) denoting titles and power bestowed by the state. To make matters worse, those born into Ox years are frequently called to high office and are leaders by their very nature. This conquer possesses a will of steel, and may prove to be a powerful adversary.

His decade between ages 43 and 52 (1980-1990) was an intense and brutal one: the massacre of the Kurds, Iran in subordination, and global support of his objectives.

At age 53, he moved into a new decade and his life-palace of Health/physical body. He now devastates and lays waste the oil fields of Kuwait. Fortunately, he is stopped by the combination of "Bai Hu" (Tiger), "T’ai Yin" (Moon) & "Di Kong" (Nullity) grouped in this palace "the sword which nullifies the nation and the organization". Saddam is cut-back by intervention, and the star "Tian Xing" (Punishment) placed in his life-palace of Children, pierces him with the death of his son.

The stars "Wu Qu" (Dance) "Qing Long" (Blue Dragon) and "Feng Gao" (Banner) in his palace of Luck explains why he has escaped unscathed so many times.

1990’s Horse year was an empowering one for Saddam Hussein, as it activated his life-palace of Vocation and the "Ruinous Demolisher" star Po Jun.

12 years later, our 2002 Horse year has re-activated this ‘Po Jun" energy once again, with it’s proclivity to "break things down." With the sign of the Horse placed in Saddam’s vocational palace (see chart) exceptionally strong and auspicious energies are activated. He is most likely to hold out defiantly for the rest of the year 2002.

On the1st of February 2003, the new year of the peacemaking Goat takes over moving Saddam into his palace of Friends/close associates, which houses the more moderate Civil-Literary star "Tian Ji" or "mercy" star. Not only should this star "cool his heals" but this palace is also attacked by many harmful energies ("Qing Yang" lance, "Tian Xu" worries, "Sui Po opponent, & "Guan Fu" justice.) This coming Goat year is ripe to see the defeat of Saddam’s military.

In Summary:
It is imperative that this deranged man be stopped, as now at age 65, he has entered into the most powerful decade of his life. The star energy "Tian Fu" (royal treasury) is directly opposite to his Destiny palace, showing the fortunes he will greedily attempt to plunder. "Fu Bing" (waylayer) reveals his foreign enemies; and most critically, this current life-palace of Others/Travel "the public" and foreign relations, houses the most powerful star of Chinese astrology - Tzi Wei (the Emperor/King) If he continues to hold power and office past this next year, he may be seriously hard to check and halt.

In closing, I must reiterate for any Oxen reading this, that this Earthly Branch of the zodiac, while intense and strong-willed, is not a life-sentence of tyranny. My own son is an Ox, has totally skipped the whole "teenage rebellion" phase, and is the joy of my life...And finally, I would like to dedicate this expose’ to my beloved mother, an enduring, efficient and dexterous Ox, who has crossed over into the next world and is sorely missed.

With many blessings,

Shelly Wu
